Our singer-led jazz band (Swing Supreme) played a great wedding gig at Melville Castle, near Dalkeith. The bride and groom and nearly all the guests were from North Carolina, and they were up for having a good time. Before long everyone was dancing and the bride was scat singing with the band ...and everyone went wild. This band pleases everyone. Its repertoire includes material from Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Fats Domino etc., as well as the more popular jazz and swing standards. These songs also went down well at the prestigeous Edinburgh Balmoral Hotel Bar Hogmanay Party and everyone was up dancing and seeing 2009 in ...in great style.

Jazz Band Central news: What's been happening? ...Fun in the sun.

The photo above could be a scene from New Orleans, some very relaxed jazz from a small New-Orleans-style band playing in a pavement cafe at lunchtime. Everybody's happy. But it's not the Big Easy, it's Kalkan in Turkey. The Dixie Delite Jazz Band have returned this year from 12 to 19 September for their annual dose of sunshine ...while entertaining the holidaymakers in various venues around this lovely old fishing town. This year the band was augmented by a fine piano player. The group played in a variety of venues, from an open-air restaurant overlooking the harbour to entertaining the smart set on the spectacular terrace of a five star hotel while the sun set. The band welcomes enquiries from other smart and exotic holiday resorts in the sun.

Visit the Jazz n' Jive Club in Heriot's Rugby Clubhouse Goldenacre, Edinburgh for the best in Traditional Jazz from 8pm till 11.30 on Friday evenings. Two great local bands each evening and a special guest band once a month.
